2019 Vex IQ Summer Camp
For Incoming Grades 4-6
Signup is now open for VEX IQ "Summer Camp" for students entering Grades 4-6 in September 2019, This is our 4th annual camp, and spots have always filled quickly!
This year we will have both:
- an "Introduction To VEX Robotics Camp" from June 17-21 from 1:00PM-4:00PM
(for kids that do not have at least 1 year of VEX IQ experience) - an "Intermediate/Advanced" camp also from June 17-21 from 1:00PM-4:00PM
(For kids that have at least 1 year of VEX IQ experience) - Both camps will be held in the "Media Center" at the Jenison High School.
- Cost is $80 for each camp
Summer Camp

Beginner Camp - Introduction To VEX Robotics
The "Beginner Camp" will focus on the basics of what a "VEX IQ" robot is and hands-on building activities
Including:
- learning the basics of VEX IQ robot design, and the various components, and how they all work together
- hands-on building of a "VEX IQ Robot" in teams of 2-3 kids
- driving the robots they build through various challenges, including the Fall 2019 "Squared Away" Challenge
- Modifying their robots to better tackle the challenges
- and a camp end "Squared Away Challenge Tournament" to decide who built the best robot!
This "Beginner Camp" is a great opportunity to find out if the Jenison Robotics program is a good fit for your child! Signups are limited, and on a first-come-first-served basis, and have filled up quickly the last 3 summers.
Intermediate/Advanced Camp
The "Intermediate/Advanced Camp" will focus on more advanced VEX IQ robot activities
Including:
- Hands on building of Vex IQ Robot in teams of 2-3 kids
- Driving the robots they build through the upcoming challenge Squared Away
- Learn more about programming of a Vex IQ Robot, with a focus on an Autonomous Mode
- Program a color sensor to accomplish a predetermined task
- A camp end tournament to determine who built the best robot in the advanced camp.
NOTE: The "Intermediate/Advanced" camp is only open to kids that have participated in at least 1 year of VEX Robotics
